Dear friends,
I would love to raise funds for BCSPCA so they could provide vulnerable animals with rescue, shelter, medical care and so much more. I am making a special collection of epoxy resin tags where 100% of all proceeds go to BCSPCA. You can see the tags available for sale on Instagram @xoxo.coco.creations.
This fundraiser is in honor of our foster dog Pluto, a 2 year old Great Dane/Mastiff mix, who we could not save after almost 4 months of love, care, training, socializing, and constant attention. His behavior indicated he was raised as a chained dog who lived outside and he had deep scars on his throat that showed he was badly abused. He was also under nourished and it broke our heart watching him eat his food and drink water like he didn't know when he would get it again. He was not toilet trained or socialized so we had him isolated from our 3 dogs (a Great Dane, Yellow Lab and a Havanese). To make matters worse he was diagnosed with PRA (progressive retina atrophy) and we were told it would only be a matter of time before he would go blind. Thankfully with the help of 3 amazing dog trainers (who volunteered their time to help us train Pluto) we were able to eventually get him potty trained, sleeping in a crate at night and be comfortable roaming our home with our dogs. Sadly Pluto's aggression towards everyone (except my husband who slept in the same room with him every night) deemed him unadoptable and he was euthanized in our home by our family vet. Not a day goes by that we do not think of Pluto and wish we could have done more to save him. We are grateful he got to know what love, freedom and a caring home looked like.
We would love to rescue/foster another dog but since our 4 year old Great Dane lost an eye last November (due to glaucoma) and will lose sight in her other eye within the next 2 years - we have decided to hold off rescuing and fostering more dogs until retirement. Until then, I plan on doing everything I can to help animals in need, like Pluto.
