Help Us Keep SPCA Sechelt Warm and Safe!

Dear Friends,

I am reaching out to you today to ask for your support in an important cause that is close to my heart. Currently, the SPCA shelter in Sechelt, BC relies on a failing natural gas boiler near the end of its life.

Our Goal:

We aim to raise $10,000 towards installing a new heat pump at the facility that will be able to maintain a steady temperature during both winter and summer to keep staff and animals a lot more comfortable than at present while dramatically reducing GHG emissions.

  • Reduction in GHG Emissions: A more environmentally friendly solution.
  • Lower Operating Costs: More funds can be directed toward animal care.
  • Cooling in Summer: Improved comfort for both animals and staff during hot months.
  • Reliability: A dependable heating system will ease the stress on everyone at the facility.

The Event:
As someone who loves being active and passionate about this cause, I have decided to cycle up and down the Lower Sunshine Coast, BC, to raise funds. On Thursday, August 8th, 2024, I will embark on a journey from Langdale to Earls Cove and back, covering over 170 km.

About Me:
I am currently working as a summer intern for the Sunshine Coast Community Solar Association. Our organization has proposed this heat pump installation as part of our ongoing efforts to support sustainable and environmentally friendly initiatives in our community.
